Group size: Max. 4 surfers

Level: Intermediate+ to Advanced

Location: Chile

Languages: English, German, Spanish

Why join this trip?

Chile isn’t small, and neither is this trip. It has a coastline longer than Europe is wide and we’re here to surf it properly. Pack the boards to chase waves and landscapes as the scenery changes every few days.

One day you’ll be surfing long lefts framed by desert hills. A few days later, you’ll be paddling out near sleepy fishing towns. No two spots feel the same and neither will your sessions.

Four surfers and tailored coaching means zero chance of finding yourself in a big coaching crowd. You’ll surf, you’ll progress.

And you’ll go home with more than just waves under your belt.

Because when we’re surfed out, we’ll be soaking in hot tubs, grilling, laughing, getting lost (the fun kind of way), and doing whatever Chile throws at us.

Your trip is run by our experienced coaching team – meet them further down the page – so you can focus on surfing and let us handle the rest.

Who's this for?

A playground for adventurous surfers ready for their next challenge

You’ll love this trip if…

You’re a confident surfer (intermediate+), ready for variety and challenge

You’re up for road tripping and moving locations every few days instead of staying in one camp

You’re cool with flexible plans: surf where it’s best, eat where it smells good, sleep where the waves are worth it

You like surfing with a tiny crew and expert coaches who know how to get the best out of you

This trip is not for you if…

You’re a beginner or not confident about your surf skills (check our Chile surf trip for beginner / intermediate level instead)

You need a fixed daily routine to function

Cold-ish water or long days on the move sound like torture instead of fun

Chile's a surfing paradise

Chile’s Pacific coast is almost ridiculously long, its waves are raw, and powerful. Fed by consistent swells, you’ll find everything from endless point breaks to hidden beachies. Also: Line-ups are not too crowded.

Beyond the waves expect mountain ranges, valleys, and small towns with BBQ smoke in the air. It’s wild and beautiful, and guaranteed to shake you out of your routine.

About Chile

Chile is one of the longest countries on the planet, with over 4.300km of coastline. It is located on the Humboldt current, the cold water current of the south-east pacific ocean. You can imagine how many waves break along this coastline, featuring mountain areas in the South, the central zone and the Atacama desert in the North.

Chile’s culture and people are incredible. You can find some cumbia played pretty much everywhere, get invited for a pisco sour (local drink) by a stranger and enjoy an empanada (chilean pastry) with an endless view of the ocean.

Chile's waves

Chile really has it all when it comes to waves. There are plenty of surf spots to be found all along Chile’s long coast.

The South of the country features endless left pointbreaks while the Central region offers loads of different beachbreaks. Heading towards the Atacama desert you will find deserted waves with warmer water and stunning desert views.

Depending on the the swell forecast we will either stay central, head North towards the desert or South to the lefthanders in colder water.

Chile's climate

Chile in March is beautiful. Mild southern hemispheric weather awaits. Outside temperatures can be anything between 15-25 ºC. During the nights however the temperature drops to sometimes aound 10ºC, bring warm socks and a sweater for sure.

At this time of the year you have to be prepared for everything: warm days on the beach, chilly nights and foggy mornings.

Water temperatures depend on where you go. In the central region expect the water to be around 15ºC at this time of the year. With a solid 4/3mm wetsuit and 3mm booties you should be prepared for every wave on this trip

Conscious Surftravel

We love to travel around the globe chasing waves. Who doesn't? At the same time we are aware of the impacts surftravels causes. Adapting to the methods of sustainable tourism is the only way for us to operate. Therefore we strive for economical, socio-cultural and environmental sustainabilities in all our surftrip operations.

How does it work?

It means, that we deliberately work with local surfschools & partners and travel in off-seasons to leave economic benefit in the hosting community. It means, that we look for socio-cultural exchange and carefully integrate our surfteam by being open, showing respect and participating in local events. It means, that we leave any location in a better state than how we have found have it.

We know that tree-planting or offsetting alone doesn’t erase the impact of travel. So instead of just balancing emissions, we want to create real, local value. That’s why we invite you to take a closer look at our Environmental Policy and support our non-profit partner NOMB Changes. They work on ocean education, community projects and environmental action, right where we surf.

There's more to our trip than surfing

This isn’t a bootcamp. It’s an adventure. Which means in between surf sessions you might find yourself…

Soaking in a hot tub under the stars

Galloping down the beach (yes, really)

Hiking cliffs with ridiculous views

Giggling upside-down in Yoga sessions

Sharing BBQs, bonfires & plenty of laughs

Beachside stays and delicious local cuisine

Our road trip starts in Santiago and rolls down the coast. Along the way, you’ll stay in cozy beachside cabañas and lodges, sharing twin rooms with your fellow NOMB surfers. Each stop is chosen for comfort, vibes, and proximity to the waves. If you’d feel more at ease sharing with someone of the same gender, just let us know and we’ll keep that in mind when arranging rooms.

Food is as flexible as the itinerary: daily breakfast and dinner are included, sometimes home-cooked, sometimes BBQ, sometimes out at local restaurants or trying street food. Lunch is up to you (and usually spontaneous with the crew).

Looking after you in Chile

Our surf trip is led by Angie Ringleb, an ISA level II qualified surf coach with over a decade of surfcoaching experience. Angie is passionate about sharing her love for surfing and the ocean. She will guide you through the waves and the trip, and ensure you have a memorable experience.

Surftripping and exploring different places is a big part of me. Which is why I organise surf trips and share new experiences with a group of other curious surfers. Having previously lived in Chile, I want to share my love and knowledge for the country and am very much looking forward to having you join me at my second home !

Joining Angie will be local surf coaches. Having lived in Chile for years, Angie has a great network of local surfers and professionals. Our coaches might not always speak perfect English, but their local wave knowlege will be unmatched.

‘Many years ago I decided to live my life outside the box. My travels brought me to a lot of different corners of this planet, like Chile for example. I now live in Fuerteventura, where I run this small female-led surf school and the beautiful NGO NOMB Changes, spreading my love for the sport of surfing and the ocean on a daily basis.

I am an ISA level II qualified surfcoach, trained lifeguard and have over 10 years of coaching experience. I can coach in English, German and Spanish.

I believe that everyone can surf and enjoy the thrill of the waves, you just have to adopt the methods of teaching. I am looking forward to guiding you through the Pacific waves and the incredible country called Chile!

FAQs

What are the travel regulations for Chile?

European citizens do not need a visa for entry and stays of up to 90 days.

Upon entry, a free “Tarjeta Única Migratoria” (Single Migration Card) is issued as proof of entry, allowing a stay of up to 90 days and specifying the mandatory departure date. This card must be returned upon departure.

Recomended vaccinations:

  • Hepatitis A/B
  • Rabies

How much do we surf on this trip?

We normally plan with one surf coaching session per day, so if you are looking for surfing all day long, this trip might not be the right one for you. However, if waves are epic, be sure that we will squeeze in the odd extra surf.

What does a surf adventure entail?

On our adventure surf trips we love to surf but also explore. This kind of trip is the most flexible and at times unpredictable, so you should be prepared to touch your limits and look forward to breaking out of your routines and regular lifestyle. We will be changing locations, spend a lot of time in a group environment and try new things.

Should I bring my own surfboard?

We do offer you a rental surfboard on the trip but highly recommend you to bring your own. If you have your own surfboard, please consider taking it on this trip (stuff your boardbag with your clothes). This way you won’t loose a session (or two) adjusting to a new board. Knowing your surfboard can be a real confidence booster.
