Why join this trip?

Guadeloupe is a palm-fringed postcard. It is colourful and warm. And even if you wouldn’t expect it, it offers a mix of mellow rollers and reefy playgrounds that keep things exciting.

This trip is all about you: your surfing, your growth, and your fun. With just four spots, every surf session is tailored. Coaching in the water and outside, video feedback, tips in the line-up, we make sure that you’ll feel pushed, supported, and safe.

And when you’re not in the water? Expect kitchen dance-offs, beach BBQs, coconut-time naps, and a crew that feels more like friends than strangers.

Trip organizer Angie’s mix of structure, silly humour, and over a decade of coaching and travel organisation experience keeps the trip both professional and personal.

Who's this for?

For women who love the ocean but don’t always find it easy

You’ll love this trip if…

You’ve taken surf lessons before and want to keep learning in a safe, supportive environment

You sometimes struggle with fear, confidence, or blocks in surfing and want to work through them without pressure

You’re curious about new places and cultures, and ready for an adventure beyond just the beach

This trip is not for you if…

You’re looking for a big party camp or crowds

Daily Surf Coaching Overview

Surf coaching 100% tailored to you

No two surfers are the same, so why should their surf coaching be?
That’s why this isn’t a “line up and copy me” kind of surf coaching. Every session is built around your surfing, your goals, and the conditions on the day. It’s all about personal progression and celebrating every little win along the way.

Expect:

A personalized coaching plan designed around your current skills and where you want to go

1:1 feedback in the water with two surf coaches for just six surfers

Video analysis & actionable feedback so you see (and feel) the difference

Mindset support for those “stuck” moments we all hit

Guided paddling & positioning to help you get into better waves, more often

Minimum surf level

This surftrip to Guadeloupe is open to women of all surf levels, from stoked beginners to confident intermediates.

This trip is all about gaining confidence in the water, building skills, and having a blast with a supportive crew.

To get the most out of the experience, we recommend that you:

Have taken a few surf lessons before (pop-up basics + surf etiquette)

Feel comfortable in the ocean and able to swim confidently

Be open to coaching, feedback, and a bit of healthy challenge

Glimpses from our past Guadeloupe trip

What past participants have to say

Guadeloupe was one of the most beautiful surftrips I got to experience, thanks to NOMB Surf.

The holistic coaching covered everything from technique training and personal growth to exciting challenges, wave knowledge, and of course loads of fun. What impressed me most was the incredible group dynamic: strangers turned into friends for life. And uncertainty turned into confidence, control, and commitment.

#Tripnotes GuadeGirlsGang: I can buy myself flowers

Our last surfcoaching trip, #GuadeGirlsGang, didn’t have much to do with housewife duties and buying flowers. What we got was full on ladies power, in and outside the water. Six...

From mellow to mighty: Guadeloupe's waves

Our home break sits on the Caribbean side with mellow, playful waves perfect for building confidence and dialing in your technique. Ideal for beginners and intermediates, it’s just a short walk from our homebase.

But we’re not glued to one spot. If the swell says go, we go.

We’ll explore both the Caribbean and Atlantic coasts. Think sunrise surf checks, reef breaks with no crowd, warm water, and line-ups you will not want to leave.

About Guadeloupe

Guadeloupe is a butterfly-shaped island in the French Caribbean. A mix of lush jungle, volcanic peaks, and postcard-perfect beaches.

As an overseas region of France, Guadeloupe runs on euros, French time, and baguettes, all while blending Afro-Caribbean roots, Creole culture, and island rhythms. The vibe is friendly and laid-back, with people who take their food, music, and community seriously. Markets are full of local spices, tropical fruits, and street food like bokit (basically a fried sandwich you didn’t know you needed).

French is the official language, but you’ll also hear Antillean Creole spoken among locals. Most people are warm and open, especially if you bring a smile and a few basic French phrases. Island life moves at its own pace, so things aren’t always punctual, but the sunsets definitely deliver.

There are direct flights from Paris, no visa needed for EU citizens. So it’s easy to settle in and focus on what matters: surfing, resting, and soaking up a different kind of everyday.

Guadeloupe's waves

January is a great time to be surfing in Guadeloupe. This is the heart of the island’s surf season, with steady swells rolling in from the north and north-east thanks to winter storms out in the Atlantic. The result? Reliable wave action that lights up plenty of breaks around the island. Some breaks are punchier, some cruisier, depending on the swell angle and wind.

Wave size in January tends to range from waist-high to well overhead, so there’s usually something for everyone. Especially on our side of the island.

The water stays warm, hovering around 28°C, so you can leave the wetsuit at home and enjoy full tropical freedom. Conditions shift with the wind, but mornings are often glassy and mellow—the perfect setup for focused coaching and solid sessions.

Guadeloupes's climate

If you’re into sunshine, salty skin, and warm breezes, January is a sweet spot for surfing Guadeloupe. It’s the dry season, which means more blue skies and less of the tropical downpours the island sees later in the year. Air temps sit comfortably around 27–30°C during the day, with cooler evenings that still don’t require more than a light layer. Humidity? Manageable. Rain? Rare. Basically, it’s the kind of weather that makes you forget socks exist.

It also means steady trade winds and warm ocean temps which is ideal for long surf sessions, lounging in the shade, or sneaking in a beach nap between waves. No complaints here.

Conscious Surftravel

We love to travel around the globe chasing waves. Who doesn't? At the same time we are aware of the impacts surftravels causes. Adapting to the methods of sustainable tourism is the only way for us to operate. Therefore we strive for economical, socio-cultural and environmental sustainabilities in all our surftrip operations.

How does it work?

It means, that we deliberately work with local surfschools & partners and travel in off-seasons to leave economic benefit in the hosting community. It means, that we look for socio-cultural exchange and carefully integrate our surfteam by being open, showing respect and participating in local events. It means, that we leave any location in a better state than how we have found have it.

We know that tree-planting or offsetting alone doesn’t erase the impact of travel. So instead of just balancing emissions, we want to create real, local value. That’s why we invite you to take a closer look at our Environmental Policy and support our non-profit partner NOMB Changes. They work on ocean education, community projects and environmental action, right where we surf.

There's more to our trip than surfing

We take our surfing seriously, but ourselves not too much. When we’re not in the water, you’ll find us exploring Guadeloupe:

Local hikes, sunset walks, maybe a hot spring soak

Creole flavors, tropical fruit, and beach BBQs

Long chats on the terrace, naps in hammocks, salty sunsets

Local flavour and laid-back living

Our base is a breezy Caribbean beach house in a sleepy fishing village, just a flip-flop stroll from the surf and full of island-charme.

Rooms are shared twins unless you request a single. The vibe is laid-back and homely, with plenty of space to spread out and catch the trade winds.

Meals are a mix of home-cooked dinners, Creole specialties, and spontaneous stops at local joints. Breakfast is always sorted with fresh fruit, good coffee/tea, and the fuel you need before paddling out. Dinner might be a BBQ at the house, a spread of local fish and rice, or a street food feast after a long surf day. Lunch is up to you and usually happens on the go.

‘Many years ago I decided to live my life outside the box. My travels brought me to a lot of different corners of this planet, like Guadeloupe for example. I now live in Fuerteventura, where I run this small female-led surf school and the beautiful NGO NOMB Changes, spreading my love for the sport of surfing and the ocean on a daily basis.

Surf tripping and exploring new places is a big part of who I am. I love creating shared experiences that go beyond surfing—especially when they include coconuts and unreal sunsets.

I am an ISA level II qualified surfcoach, trained lifeguard and have over 12 years of coaching experience. I can coach in English, German and Spanish.

I believe that everyone can surf and enjoy the thrill of the waves, you just have to adopt the methods of teaching. I am looking forward to guiding you through this incredible trip in one of my favourite places on this planet!

Fredo

Born and raised in Guadeloupe, he knows these waves like the back of his hand. His calm, no-nonsense coaching pairs perfectly with Angie’s stoke.

FAQs

What are the travel regulations for Guadeloupe?

Guadeloupe, as an overseas department of France, follows French immigration policies. European Union (EU) citizens can enter with a valid passport or national identity card without a visa. U.S. citizens do not require a visa for stays up to 90 days but must have a passport valid for at least six months beyond their entry date. It’s advisable to check with your airline regarding any transit visa requirements for connecting flights.

Recommended Vaccinations:

While no vaccinations are mandatory for entry into Guadeloupe, it’s recommended that travelers ensure their routine immunizations are up to date. This includes vaccinations against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis (whooping cough), polio (dTP-IPV), measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR). Additionally, vaccinations for hepatitis A are advised for most travelers. Consulting with a healthcare professional before your trip is recommended to discuss any additional vaccinations or health precautions based on your personal health and travel plans.

How much do we surf on this trip?

We normally plan with one surf coaching session per day, so if you are looking for surfing all day long, this trip might not be the right one for you. However, if waves are epic, be sure that we will squeeze in the odd extra surf.

What does a surfholiday entail?

#Guadelles is a surf-focused holiday with daily coaching, but it’s not all about the waves. There’s time to rest, explore, and enjoy the island.

We stay in one homebase—no packing bags and moving around, just good surf, good company, and space to breathe.

Should I bring my own surfboard?

We do offer you a rental surfboard on the trip but highly recommend you to bring your own. If you have your own surfboard, please consider taking it on this trip (stuff your boardbag with your clothes). This way you won’t loose a session (or two) adjusting to a new board. Knowing your surfboard can be a real confidence booster.
