Chile Surf Trip 2027
4,300 km of Pacific coastline for only four surfers and your personal coaches.
A small-group surf coaching trip in March 2027 along Chile’s Pacific coast, surfing point breaks that run so long you’ll lose count of your turns, and sleeping close enough to the ocean to hear the sets come in. No fixed itinerary, fewer crowds.
Quick facts
Dates: 08 – 20 March 2027
Group size: Max. 4 surfers
Level: Intermediate+ to Advanced
Location: Pichilemu, Chile
Languages: English, German, Spanish
Why join this trip?
Chile’s coastline is longer than Europe is wide. In March, the swells roll in from the Southern Ocean and stack up into point breaks that just keep going, predictable enough to work on your technique, powerful enough to demand your full attention. Chile’s long waves give you 10, 15, 20 seconds of unbroken canvas per ride.
You won’t be surfing a beginner beach. You won’t be in a crowd. You’ll be in a quality lineup where the local surfers know each other by name.
This trip gives you something hard to find: time and space to actually connect with the ocean.
Since Chile’s waves are long and predictable, it gives you time to feel what’s happening underneath you, to implement feedback, to make mistakes and correct them without starting over. Surf coaching doesn’t mean that you need to be pushed to your limit, but given room to implement.
Each session, you’ll receive clear, specific technical coaching. Then you’ll surf.
You’ll watch the sets, read the lineup, choose your waves, and figure things out.
Four surfers. Two coaches – Angie, organiser and surf coach at NOMB Surf, and a local guide at every spot who’s surfed these breaks his whole life and knows which one is firing before you’ve even opened the forecast app.
Who's this for?
You’ll love this trip if…
You’re a confident surfer (intermediate+), ready for variety and challenge
You’ve done a surf camp and want something that goes further than drills and debrief circles
You’re fine with the plan changing because the swell changed (the whole point of surfing and this trip)
You want to understand the ocean, not just surf it
You like a small crew and honest coaching more than a packed programme
This trip is not for you if…
You’re not yet catching unbroken waves consistently
You want feedback after every single wave
You expect a fixed daily schedule
Cold water and moving accommodation sounds exhausting rather than good
Your interest is peaked,
but you aren’t sure if the trip is right for you?

The coaching concept
Surf coaching 100% tailored to you
No one-size-fits-all lessons here. With four people in the water, your coaches see everything. And with waves that give you plenty of time to work with, there’s actually time to implement feedback within the same session.
What coaching looks like on this trip:
A personalised coaching plan built around your current level and where you want to go
Clear, specific technical instruction (wave selection, positioning, rail use, body mechanics)
Video analysis so you can see what your body is actually doing
Learning to read waves, surf etiquette and lineup dynamics, taught in context
Time between feedback to figure things out yourself (because that’s how it sticks)
Minimum surf level
This trip is designed for confident intermediate and advanced surfers.
To get the most out of the experience, you should be able to:
Catch unbroken waves consistently and follow the direction of the wave
Turtle roll or duck dive through oncoming sets
Know your place in the lineup as a travelling surfer and follow the basics of surf etiquette
Be open to coaching, feedback, and a bit of healthy challenge
If you’re not sure whether you’re ready, get in touch via Whatsapp. We’ll ask a few questions and give you an honest assessment.
Gear notes: We strongly recommend bringing your own surfboard, because knowing your board in unfamiliar waves is a real confidence booster. If travel logistics make that impossible, a rental board can be available on request, size and shape are subjects to availability. Bringing your own 4/3mm wetsuit and booties is essential. We also recommend to bring a hooded neoprene vest for cooler mornings and more southern spots.
The itinerary
Follow the waves
We start and finish in Pichilemu, Chile’s surf capital, easy to reach by bus from Santiago de Chile. Depending on conditions, we’ll likely spend the first few days based here, getting into the rhythm of the waves and the place before we go wherever the ocean takes us next.
From there, the forecast decides. Depending on swell, and whatever our local guides suggest, we might be surfing long lefts framed by rugged cliffs or a beachbreak in a town you’ve never heard of, or … let’s see! Our plans can change in two minutes because someone got a phonecall about some epic waves somewhere.
And in between sessions? That depends on where we end up. We have gone hiking to clifftop views, kayaking, horseback riding on the beach, sitting in hot tubs under stars, hanging with new friends and local characters, and doing absolutely nothing on a terrace while watching the sun go down.
Local knowledge you can’t buy
Our local guides have surfed Chile’s coast their whole lives. They know which breaks are working and in which conditions. They are locals at the waves we visit. They’ll take us to beaches that don’t appear on any surf map.
They may not speak much English, but that’s fine. Angie translates, and there’s always a way to communicate when someone really knows what they’re talking about.
Our local connections are what shape this trip. Our guides take us to spots that other surf groups wouldn’t even consider, and they open doors far beyond the lineup. Because of that, we’re genuinely welcomed, in the water and on land. Many of our guides are long-time friends of Angie’s, and that brings a level of trust, ease, and fun you can feel right from the beginning.

‘Surftripping and exploring different places is a big part of who I am. Which is why I organise surf trips and share new experiences with other curious surfers. Having previously lived in Chile, I want to share my love and knowledge for the country and am very much looking forward to having you join me at my second home!‘
Joining Angie will be local surf coaches. Having lived in Chile for years, Angie has a great network of local surfers and professionals. Our coaches might not always speak perfect English, but their local wave knowlege will be unmatched.

‘Many years ago I decided to live my life outside the box. My travels brought me to a lot of different corners of this planet, like Chile for example. I now live in Fuerteventura, where I run this small female-led surf school and the beautiful NGO NOMB Changes, spreading my love for the sport of surfing and the ocean on a daily basis.
I am an ISA level II qualified surfcoach, trained lifeguard and have over 10 years of coaching experience. I can coach in English, German and Spanish.
I believe that everyone can surf and enjoy the thrill of the waves, you just have to adopt the methods of teaching. I am looking forward to guiding you through the Pacific waves and the incredible country called Chile!
Conscious Surftravel
We love to travel around the globe chasing waves. Who doesn't? At the same time we are aware of the impacts surftravels causes. Adapting to the methods of sustainable tourism is the only way for us to operate. Therefore we strive for economical, socio-cultural and environmental sustainabilities in all our surftrip operations.
How does it work?
It means, that we deliberately work with local surfschools & partners and travel in off-seasons to leave economic benefit in the hosting community. It means, that we look for socio-cultural exchange and carefully integrate our surfteam by being open, showing respect and participating in local events. It means, that we leave any location in a better state than how we have found have it.
We know that tree-planting or offsetting alone doesn’t erase the impact of travel. So instead of just balancing emissions, we want to create real, local value. That’s why we invite you to take a closer look at our Environmental Policy and support our non-profit partner NOMB Changes. They work on ocean education, community projects and environmental action, right where we surf.
Beachside stays and delicious local cuisine
Our road trip starts in Pichilemu and follows the coast. Along the way, you’ll stay in cozy beachside cabañas and lodges, sharing a twin room with a fellow NOMB surfers (we’re mindful of gender preferences if you let us know). Each stop is chosen for comfort, vibes, and proximity to the waves.
Food: Breakfast is prepared for you every morning (substantial, because you’re about to surf). Dinners are a mix: sometimes we cook together, sometimes it’s a local restaurant, sometimes it’s an asado (BBQ) on the beach that goes later than planned. Lunch is up to you (and usually spontaneous with the crew).
